Abstract
This work aims to reveal the metaphysical ground of Gabriel Marcel’s refl ection on the incarnate condition of man, that is to say, how this fundamental situation of corporeal being is “the main datum of metaphysics”. At the same time, this work intends to show how the access to existence is not given thanks to objectifying reason, but thanks to the participation with the existent, at the same time, constitutes ourselves as existing beings. In this way, metaphysics is pour and par freedom; it triggers a refl ection that recovers the ontological weight behind every human experience, caused in turn by the presence of the Being as exigency.
