Relato de viaje y experiencia vital: la biografía itinerante de Odorico de Pordenone

El artículo tiene por objetivo analizar el relato de viaje del fraile franciscano Odorico de Pordenone († 1331) como fuente para el conocimiento de su personalidad, ya que este documento es el único que nos transmite información fidedigna sobre su vida. El autor se involucró de manera consciente en su relato, de tal modo que este, además de transmitir los aspectos materiales del viaje (regiones, ciudades, objetos y pueblos encontrados) muestra la personalidad activa y abierta del fraile. Tres aspectos dan cuenta de ello: la comunicación de emociones de manera desinhibida, la postura frente a las religiones orientales y el conocimiento de las ciudades italianas del norte. De esta forma el relato de viaje se convierte en una pieza autobiográfica de primer orden.
