There are two main origins of the history of philosophy: Greek and Jewish-Christian. The former contributed with the concept of the “Ideal” and the latter, with “Intention” which characterize philosophy nowadays. Along with Christianism, the modern era
conceived the past as a preparation for the future. Therefore conceptual history studies different ways of perceiving historical time.
