The article describes the narrator of the novel Casa de campo by José Donoso as a faceless voice who gives rise to a parodie spcech and allows the reader to understand the identity of the subject as an artificial literary construction. In this way, a comparison between the novel and the painting Las Meninas by Velázquez is established, thereby confirming the evasive presence of a subject aJTected by a crisis of representation.
