The electrification of the First Railway Zone Valparaíso-Santiago: changes and transformations for the railway worker
Keywords:
electrification, railway company, railway worker, trans-Andean railway, ChileAbstract
The electrification of the First Railway Zone Valparaíso-Santiago, including the trans-Andean railway, brought a great transformation to the state transport company due to the magnitude of the change that took place. It also implied making adjustments and variations in its management and policies which were not only experienced in the administrative area and in the technical area (due to the adaptation to a new traction). Since qualified personnel was needed for the work, the human aspect of the company was also affected. We could summarise this in the following words: “new knowledge for new tools”.
