In this article we analyse the novel Sistema nervioso by the Chilean writer Lina Meruane. The aim is to trace a reading from the materiality of bodies to the connection with the cosmic imaginary, which opens up the consideration of temporal scales that are not limited to the strictly human. We show, on the one hand, that biopolitical readings find their limits in this novel and, on the other, we arrive at a critique that advocates a beyond the anthropic principle. The paper hypothesises that a reading of illness as a spectre can lead to the consideration of a narrative beyond the anthropic principle. Finally, we outline a conclusion on spectral politics and the possibilities of memory.
