Philosophy as Cultural Diagnosis

During the past century, an unprecedented interpretation of philosophy arose in Europe and became popular throughout the world, postulating that the main —and perhaps the only— task of philosophy consists in reflectively taking stock of the current cultural age. In this paper, we critically examine the general lines of this position in the view of its main spokesmen, discussing the questions it raises, and the limitations that beset it.
