The fall of García Madero and the emergence of the last detective: a reading proposal in Los detectives salvajes by Roberto Bolaño

This paper develops a reading of the actions of Juan García Madero, the narrator in Roberto Bolaño’s novel Los detectives salvajes. This view sustains itself on the proposal developed by Bolaño in his text “Literature + illness = illness”, where travelling, writing/reading and sex are vanishing points to survive, avoiding the stillness that is typical of life in our societies.
