Abstract
The principal aim of this paper is to show the existence of a discontinuity in the evolution of the Critical Theory from 1930 to 1950. The initial program of investigation of the Critical Theory, directed by Max Horkheimer, focused on the production of a social philosophy of “marxist” roots, an interdisciplinary philosophy with political projection. However, from beginning of the 40s a change took place in the Critical Theory: the principal works of Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer deal with the production of a genealogy of the Modernity. To conclude, we do a critical note concerning the theoretical and practical consequences of the discontinuity in the Critical Theory and Frankfurt’s School.
