A Decade of the Detective Novel of Bogotá, 1995-2005: A Conceptual Approach of Anomie

This text studies a recent period of the Colombian narrative. It comprehends the novels Perder es cuestión de método (1997) by Santiago Gamboa, Scorpio City (1998) and Satanás (2002) by Mario Mendoza, La Lectora (2001) by Sergio Álvarez, and El Esquimal y la Mariposa (2004) by Nahum Montt. Here we can observe strategies and orientations from which the Latin American neo-police genre is actualized. As a specific profile, we concentrate on these texts because they choose, like a dynamic environment, the city of Bogotá. That fact allows us to explore this kind of discourse like a representation of a Latin American urban novel with a combination of Black history, characterized by the vision of a disorganized society, and a compositional structure that intends to reiterate anomie in the Colombian culture.
