The Vanguardism of the Lateness According to Theodor W. Adorno
Keywords:

This paper deals with the fragmentary reflection of Theodor W. Adorno on the “late style”. Specifically, the article aims to explain the sociological and philosophical aspects of Adorno’s statement on the achievement of late style as the highest criterion for determining the worth of the artists. Thereby this work also intends to take a few steps in the attempt to show, on the one hand, the unavoidable character of the “late style” in order to understand Adorno’s notion of modern art as broken promesse du bonheur and, on the other, how the thought about the lateness condenses paradigmatically his negative aesthetic.
