Memory, audiovisual media and expanded literature in recent chilean narrative (Baradit, Fernández, Zambra)
Keywords:
Intermediality, Memory, Antimemory, Audiovisual, Recent Chilean NarrativeAbstract
From an intermedial perspective, I will analyse the relations between memory and audiovisual media present in recent
Chilean literary texts: two short stories from Mis Documentos (2014), by Alejandro Zambra; the novel Fuenzalida (2012), by Nona Fernández; and the novel Lluscuma (2013), by Jorge Baradit. Through their themes and formal aspects, these texts expand to other media using various strategies, and attempt to construct (anti) memories by confronting audiovisual layers of mediatized memory of our times. Doing so, intermedial literature becomes a political sphere that visibilizes the technological and audiovisual forms that cross our archives and memories, and the place that literature holds between them.
